BUCYRUS, Ohio (February 14, 2008) - Baja Marine has introduced the all-new Hammer X at the Miami International Boat Show. The agile 22-foot Hammer X is an exciting addition to Baja's Performance series. Like the 278 Performance that was introduced earlier in the 2008 model year, the Hammer X offers the signature power and style of the popular Performance series. With the debut of the Hammer X, Baja Marine continues its commitment to create innovative, eye-catching models for its leading lineup. Powered by a 300-hp MerCruiser(r) 350 Magnum engine, the Hammer X easily delivers all the thrills and speed for which Baja is well known. "We've packed a lot of muscle into the new Hammer X," said Carey Price, Baja's director of product development and engineering. "For a boat its size, it has no trouble keeping up with the big boys." For those that want even more power, engine options as powerful as the 425-hp MerCruiser(r) 496 Magnum HO are also available. Finding inspiration in the styling of muscular roadsters, Baja's in-house design team incorporated aggressive lines and cutting-edge features into the Hammer X. Specially crafted rear vents and a low-profile stance create a sleek, hotrod-style look. "These are such sharp additions to the boat," Price said. "They lend the Hammer X a unique, instantly recognizable profile. Once again, the Baja designers have really outdone themselves with this boat." With its spacious cockpit layout, cabin V-berth and storage capacity, the Hammer X suits daylong joy rides of up to six friends as well as cozy overnight trips for two. Two cockpit bucket seats make driving comfortable and snug. The cockpit passenger seat also swivels to face a broad aft bench that allows passengers to stretch out. During breaks in the action, a large rear sunpad makes a perfect place for lounging, while the 25-quart cooler storage space holds plenty of refreshments.
