Default how to remove a former boat name?

Have you ever bought a used or second-hand boat with their own names plastered in their bodies (about 10' high letters painted in it) from a boat/yacht store? If so, how do you remove the painted names on the body? I recently bought a used Bayliner and it has a name "Berkeley" painted on its body from its previous owner. I wanted to remove it and rename it with my own preferred boat name.

You may be able to paint over it and then put the new name you choose over that once it dries. Otherwise, you may have to strip that part or even repaint the boat. That of course is the most expensive and labor intensive option.

Is the name painted on or is it vinyl lettering? If it is vinyl lettering you can remove it by using a hair dryer and a plastic scraper. If you can't get the name off by that method you may have to take your boat to a company that specializes in the removal of old names. It may be more expensive but at least you won't be able to see the old name once it's finished.

It is vinyl lettering plastered on the body. I tried removing the first letter (letter B) and the traces of it appeared as a "ghost" letter to where the letter B had been placed a long time ago.
