Tips and Tricks
A friend gave me these tips and tricks and I thought I would share them with the boating obsession members. I think they gathered these tips in various issues of Field and Stream.
1. Savvy bream anglers:
Place a piece of banana peel and slices of this fruit in their cricket cages. This is said to release a flavor & aroma that bluegills find irresistible.
2. Crush eggshells & sprinkle them overboard. The fragments drifting down attract baitfish as well as bluegills, crappies and perch.
3. To keep scales from flying all over when cleaning them, scale the fish underwater.
4. When using live minnows for bait, snip off the finny portion of its tail. It will swim erratically, making it more attractive to hungry predators.
5. Lay a fuzzy flannel or wool blanket in a field & drive. Grasshoppers & other insects will get caught in it. |
