Default A/C breaker trips on gen but not shore power

I have a 2004 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer. Recently the air conditioner started kicking off the breaker at the panel when the compressor tries to start. This only happens when the generator is running. When the boat is on shore power the A/C runs fine.

Cool

You need to check your Gen. output.
If you can get your hands on a digital voltmeter, check to verify that the gen is putting out 120 volts. Then start the a/c and see if the voltage drops.
This could show you a gen output or bad connection that could cause a breaker to trip.
My guess is that it is a gen. output problem or bad connection from gen to the electrical system.
You may have to get a gen. repair person involved, but check the connections first.
PS turn off all pwer 1st.
